Ringmaster - Derbyshire - Derby - D1928 - Telephone or email scam

[Reference: D1928 - Telephone or email scam]
A scam is doing the rounds where persons are contacting residents by telephone or e-mail purporting to be from the Ministry of Justice or other organisations, stating that they are due a large sum of money in form of a rebate and asking for a cash payment first to "release it". They ask the victim to obtain a "Ukash voucher" saying that they will send someone round with the cheque later that day.

They phone back and ask for the Ukash voucher details but no-one turns up with a cheque.

Don't become victim to this scam - this is an advance fee fraud and those who have fallen victim have lost their money.

Ukash advice is never to provide any voucher details to a third-party by any method as it should be treated just like cash.

If you receive any similar calls of this nature, no personal details should be given out and the call should be terminated.
